💭 FAQ #1: What the heck is a storytelling coach?
As a storytelling coach, it is my commitment to you to help you craft stories that will advance your personal and professional mission. First, we work to identify your strongest stories and values. A lot of mindset work goes into sharing your story, so we will work to build a resilient storytelling mind. Once we know which stories will best support your mission and have developed your mindset, we will work to identify how to relate to your audience. Story is all about connection. I work with you on story framework, delivery and technique. And finally - how to strategically get your message to the masses.
💭 FAQ #2: What if I don’t feel like I have a story to tell?
Everyone has a story. Sometimes we are too close to them to realize their value. We have all had experiences that have shaped us and could be beneficial to someone else. Stories help your audience know you, like you, and trust you. It is my job to help you uncover your stories and package them into a story that sticks – and dare I say, sells. (#storyselling)
💭FAQ #3: How can I share my story?
There are endless ways to share your story. Most commonly, people share their stories through writing and speaking. But we share stories every day - in the boardroom, in the courtroom, on Match.com, over coffee, on social media, in art, in music, in photography - or, if you're like me, through poetry. Sharing an authentic story involves discovering which authentic medium feels best to you.
💭 FAQ #4: Why does story matter?
Human beings are hard-wired to connect to story. It dates back to the dawn of time with pictographs on cave walls. We learn from the experiences of others. Telling a good story helps activate the attention and memory of your audience and evokes an emotional response that prompts action.
💭 FAQ #5: What if my story feels too painful to share?
This is a hard one. This is where mindset work comes in. It is important to be equipped with the tools you need to view your story through a lens that empowers you, instead of limits you. While your story may be difficult at times, I challenge you to consider what positives outcomes could result from sharing it – for yourself, and for others.
💭 FAQ #6: When is the right time to start sharing my story?
Many of us think, “I’ll start telling my story when (XYZ)”
• I get that certification
• I have more years of job experience
• I feel more comfortable in my own skin
And while those goals are good to have, they shouldn’t have to happen before you start telling your story.
Your story is already well under way; your story is happening now!
It can be a dangerous game to wait until you feel “ready” because the truth is that day may never come. In this masterclass I share the sheer panic I felt when I "posted" my story for the first time, so I get it. But rest assured, your experiences are already enough. You may have room to grow, improve, and progress, but you already have enough value to start making a difference.
So, my question to you is what are you waiting for?
